The Health Committee focuses on efforts to increase community access to information and healthcare initiatives through partnerships with existing organizations. We invite health care professionals and organizations to discuss their programs and services at Branch meetings and special events. We regularly distribute health-related information and materials, and announcements of events from health service organizations in the community to our membership. We are actively involved with the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation and the work they do in the Williamsburg and James City County area. In previous years, we have partnered with Sentara hospital, Epsilon Delta Boule, the Chamber of Commerce and others in the Medical Explorer Troop 757. The program served more than forty high school students and exposed them to a variety of medical occupations (on a monthly basis), that has included X Ray, Surgery, Physical Therapy, Emergency Medicine and other areas. It is expected that a number of those students will pursue medical careers.
