J. Blaine Blayton

Community Service Award

 

 

Irene Wallace Lee of James City County is the 2004 recipient of the J. Blaine Blayton Community Service Award.  The York-James City-Williamsburg NAACP presented this award at the 25th Silver Jubilee Gala on April 17, 2004, at the Marriott Hotel.

 

The Philip Morris USA Company endows this annual award, on behalf of the YJCW NAACP, which carries with it a glass, engraved trophy and a $200 donation to one’s favorite charity.

 

Mrs. Lee is a life long citizen of James City County and a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church, Grove, Virginia.  She was born on July 17, 1913 and has dedicated nearly eight decades of her life to community service.  The 2003 award was given to Mrs. Bobbye Alexander, retired educator from the Williamsburg James City School District.
